Mustangs drop 2 close ones!
The Mustangs had a busy weekend playing 3 games with them losing 3-2 to Teeswater friday night and dropping a 1-0 loss to Brussels Blyth on Saturday. Sunday the powerhouse Saugeen Shores came to town for an exhibition game and hammered the mustangs 9-0.

The Mustang players picked their Captains for the year with Carly Kreller and Sara Gottfried  chosen as Alternate Captains and Sydney Pruden picked as this year's Captain.

Great job ladies!

Game 1: The Mustangs travelled to Teeswater for an exhibition game Friday night and lost a great game 3-2.

After a scoreless first period, Sydney Pruden opened the scoring firing a wrist shot over the goal tender to give the Mustangs the lead. Rachel Mills assisted on the goal.  Teeswater came back 30 seconds later with the equalizer. Teeswater scored with 7 seconds to go in the second to take a lead going into the third.

Sydney Pruden scored her second of the game hammering home a rebound to tie the game up. Assists went to Carley Kreller and Rachel Mills. With 5 minutes to play the Mustangs got an unlucky break when a puck went off their own player to give the Teeswater team the lead. The mustangs pulled the goal tender and had plenty of chances but could not tie it up.

A great game by the Mustangs and outstanding goal tending by Shelby Foster who was picked as game MVP.

Game 2: The Mustangs travelled to Blyth for a regular season game and came away with a hard fought 1-0 loss. The Mustangs played an awesome game but could not find the back of the net.

"We had many chances and the team played awesome but could not put the puck in." Blyth scored on the power play in the third period on a too many players penalty. The Mustangs defence played excellent and again Shelby Foster had a great game in net.

"We are playing much better hockey and the last three games we have lost by a goal. commented coach Howie. Our record does not do justice to how we have been playing. We need to be tougher and learn how to finish and the wins will come"

Game 3: The Powerhouse Saugeen Shores team came to Wallace on Sunday and dominated the Mustangs. This is a team that beat Kincardine who just got bumped to "B" so we knew it would be tough game.

Saugeen scored 5 first period goals before the Mustangs started to play. The Mustangs played well in the second giving up a single goal and ran out of steam in the third.
