Novice Elite Series Champions!
Wallace battled Zurich on Sunday and were able to comeback from a 2 goal deficit to tie it up in the 3rd period. Zurich wasn’t finished yet and scored their 3rd goal with 1:17 seconds left in the 3rd. Wallace fought back hard and tied it up with 45 seconds left in the 3rd period. The two teams continued to battle with Wallace scoring at 3:18 seconds into OT to win 4-3 and become the Novice Elite Champions. It was an excellent game and had fans, players and coaching staff on the edge of their seats. With this win they were awarded the Bruce Williams Memorial WOAA Novice Elite Championship Plaque as well as receiving WOAA championship medals. A GREAT finish to a GREAT year!
These Novice Sabres had an amazing year. Excellent coaching from Head Coach Terry Neabel, Assistant Coaches Scott Horton and Jason Brooks along with trainer Krista Hodder provided the much needed skills and support for these young players. (with Matt Fischer and Karen Smith occasionally filling in.) The Sabres overall record for the year including tournaments and exhibition games is 38-5.
17-1 to clinch the WOAA regular season East division.
6-2 to clinch the WOAA Maroon playoff East division Championship.
4-0 to sweep the Elite division and become the Novice Elite Champions.
In addition these hard working players became the Howick tournament “A” champs,The Drayton Tournament “A” champs, and “A” final runners up in the Woolwich tournament. A very impressive record indeed!
These kids played their hearts out and performed very well as a team winning battles in the corners, skating hard, shooting the puck and most of all having fun!
The coaching staff along with families, fans and the executive of WMH are very proud of these players.
It was an enjoyable year and I will miss these smiling happy faces. Wishing this team all the best in all their future hockey endeavours!
Yours in hockey,
Karen Smith
