UMM PeeWee Girls, 2012-2013 (WALLACE MINOR HOCKEY)

The Mustangs played Walkerton Monday night and skated to a 1-0 win. The team looked like they had lots of rust from a long spring break with not too many feet moving. Sky Maldini scored on a backhander with minutes to go to give the Mustangs the win. Sydney Pruden and Carly Kreller picked up assists. " The Defense played a great game with all four D men taking rushes and lots of D to D passes. Shelby Foster stopped all shots for her 4th shut out of the year. Next up year end tournament!

The Mustangs travelled to Wingham on Saturday and skated to a hard fought 2 to 2 tie. Sydney Pruden scored early in the game on a breakaway to give UM an early lead. Sydney scored her second goal on a rebound in front of the net to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. Carly Kreller assisted on both goals. Wingham came back with two goals to end the game in a tie. The Mustangs travelled to Teeswater for a friday night match and skated away to a 3-2 loss. The Mustangs came out flat for the first period and fell behind 2-0. After 2 periods the girls were down by 3. Sydney Pruden picked up a pass from Madison Jacklin in her end and went around three Otters firing the puck high stick side to cut the lead to two. Carly Kreller then broke in all alone speeding by the Otter D and hammering home a beauty goal to cut the lead to one. Syd Pruden pick up the assist. The Mustangs came out flying on a stormy Monday night and skated to a 3-1 victory over the Kincardine team.  Hanna Gerber opened the scoring early in the first firing a wrist shot over the Kincardine goalie. Assists went to Laeney Williams and Madelyn Yungblut. Carly Kreller broke in all alone in the second and fired 5 hole to give the Mustangs a 2 goal lead. Carly scored her second early in the third cutting into the net and going low on the netminder to give the Mustangs a 3 goal cushion. The Mustangs had a busy weekend playing 3 games with them losing 3-2 to Teeswater friday night and dropping a 1-0 loss to Brussels Blyth on Saturday. Sunday the powerhouse Saugeen Shores came to town for an exhibition game and hammered the mustangs 9-0. The Mustang players picked their Captains for the year with Carly Kreller and Sara Gottfried  chosen as Alternate Captains and Sydney Pruden picked as this year's Captain. Great job ladies!
